WHAT TO EXPECT
The event aims at increasing awareness and promoting a dialogue around the vital role of women in green business, turning climate change challenges into economic opportunities for women. It will bring together experts from the finance, corporate and international cooperation sectors, as well as women entrepreneurs, to explore the emerging landscapes for women in the green economy and the approaches to promoting women’s green economic empowerment from their respective perspectives. How can the role of women be enhanced in developing sustainable climate change responses? How can we close the eco gender gap? Engange with our speakers who will share their experiences and discuss with us best instruments to promoting women in the green economy.

Dr. Gabi Kratochwil
Chairwoman, GAWBLconnect
Owner, CrossCultures, Germany
Gabi brings 25 years of knowledge and working experience as a multi-award winning provider of training, coaching and consultancy with special focus on the Arab World, Diversity Management & Inclusion and Women & Leadership. Owner and Managing Director of CrossCultures, she has an academic background in Middle Eastern Studies and Diversity Management.
For more than 20 years Gabi has been strongly committed to the dialogue and network of German and Arab women leaders, having initiated in 2007 the first Arab-German Businesswomen Dialogue at the Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s annual Arab-German Business Forum, also partnering with the Arab International Women’s Forum (AIWF). In 2018 she organized and chaired the first German-Arab Women Business Leaders’ Summit (GAWBL-Summit 2018, www.gawbl-summit.com) held under the Patronage of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in cooperation with Ghorfa with more than 200 high-profile experts, leaders and decision-makers from Germany, Arab countries and the international community. Among its many initiatives, GAWBL has been setting up in 2019 the “Young Women Program”-Study Tour in cooperation with the Qatari Businesswomen Association. A tailor-made study trip for young female leaders from Qatar and Germany that connects and promotes young talent through exchange.
Gabi has been designing and facilitating workshops & events around the world supporting companies, institutions and organizations in implementing a more inclusive corporate culture, setting up diverse teams and working virtually together in a global work environment. She teaches Diversity Management at the University of Freiburg, mentors young female entrepreneurs and coaches individuals on career development, personal goal setting and resilience. Her intercultural business handbook on the Arab World has been ranked No. 5 of the top management books by The Financial Times. Her book on successful women in the Arab World set a milestone.
As a high impact coach and proven expert, she has been advising policy makers, business leaders and companies sharing her expertise and passion for building bridges and connecting people. Gabi has been awarded with the Global Diversity Leadership Award 2017, World Women Leadership Achievement Award 2015 and is a member of the Board of Directors of Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 2006 and a member of the Society for Intercultural Training and Research.

Anouk Creusen
Managing Director, 75inQ, The Netherlands
Trained as a geoscientist, Anouk has spend over 15 years in the international Oil & Gas industry, working in The Middle East, Brazil and The Netherlands.
Anouk has a special interest in gender equality and economic independence and has pursued this in all her roles, leading to the foundation of 75inQ. She founded and lead several Women’s Networks in the industry and outside.

Layla El Hares
Managing Director Siemens Energy, Egypt
Layla El Hares was appointed Managing Director of Siemens Energy in Egypt from February of 2022.
She is a respected leader with over 21 years’ experience in the energy sector, and has a strong background in the oil industry and particularly the exploration and production sectors. Layla El Hares leads the company’s operations throughout Egypt and is a prominent figure in the region and internationally. Before joining Siemens Energy, she held a variety of leadership positions across the energy sector and throughout the world, for companies such as Shell, BG Group and Schlumberger. Her career has spanned across various regions including South America, specifically Brazil, East Africa and Europe. Layla El Hares is an Egyptian and French national, fluent in English, Arabic, Portuguese and French. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Alexandria University and a project management degree from Herriot watt.

Dr. Suzan Fouad Hamdy
Chief Financial Inclusion, Sustainability and Business Development Officer, Banque Misr, Egypt
Dr. Suzan F. Hamdy serves as the Chief Financial Inclusion, Sustainability and Business Development Officer at Banque Misr since April 2020. Dr. Hamdy supervises the sustainability development operations. Dr. Hamdy also chairs the Financial Inclusion Committee at the Federation of Egyptian Banks. Before this role, she was the Chief Investment Officer. She founded the Capital Markets and Investments Group at Banque Misr in 2006. During her term, BM assets under management surged to EGP 60bn by 2020, marking one of the largest investments’ portfolios in Egypt. Dr. Hamdy has a career spanning more than 36 years in the banking industry. She began her career at the credit and syndications department at the Arab African International Bank, where she worked in a variety of banking divisions, including project finance, remedial management, investment banking, retail banking, marketing, business development, and foreign branches. She was formerly the Chairman of the Nile Fund Company for Development and Investment in the Nile Basin countries.
Dr. Hamdy is the Chair of Misr Real Estate Asset Management and Managing Director of the Egyptian Charity Sports Fund as well as a Board Member of Banque Misr Lebanon.She was also a Board Member at the Export Development Bank and several other companies. She also served as a Board Member at different prominent companies, including Export Development Bank of Egypt (EBE), Misr Beltone Asset Management, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, and Petroleum Tankers. Moreover, Dr. Hamdy is a member of different business associations, such as the Egyptian Capital Market Association, Fixed Income Association, Egyptian Investment Management Association, the American Chamber of Commerce, the British Egyptian Business Association, and the World Studies Future Generation in Finland. Dr. Hamdy is a certified Corporate Director by the IFC and a certified trainer by the Egyptian Central Banking Institute. She is also a certified expert in Financial Inclusion Policy by the Alliance for Financial Inclusion. Besides, she is a lecturer in several universities and a speaker at several conferences on retail banking, real estate, and financial markets locally and internationally.
She had represented Egyptian banks as part of the Visa International Risk Advisors for the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEMEA) region. In 2014, Dr. Hamdy was chosen as one of the top 10 bankers in Egypt, and as one of the 50 most influential women in the Egyptian economy in 2015. She was also selected as a member of the International Who’s Who of Professionals for the year 2009. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from the American University in Cairo. Graduating at the age of 17, Dr. Hamdy holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Monetary Policy from the University of Hungarian Sciences, which she received at the age of 22, to become the youngest university graduate and Doctorate holder in Egypt and the Middle East.

Rebecca Kühl
Gender Mainstream Advisor, GIZ, Egypt
Rebecca is an Advisor in Private Sector Development in GIZ Egypt. She is focused on Gender Mainstreaming and Women Economic Empowerment. Rebecca is steering GIZ Egypt’s Gender Group as a Gender Focal Point on country level. She is a graduate of University of Konstanz and holds a Master’s Degree in Peace, Conflict and International Relations from University of Tübingen.

Mona Alami Merrouni
CEO Ecofertil & Co-Founder FERTIDEV, Morocco
Mona Alami is a Greentech Entrepreneur in the field of organic waste management and compost production in the city of Casablanca, Morocco.
She is a Fulbright scholar with an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Babson College in Boston. Mona has also 8 years of experience as the sustainability and employee engagement manager of one of the biggest global FMCGs. In 2019, she took the challenge to take over the family business that was on standby and turn it around. In 2020, she co-founded a startup in the field of biowaste treatment and the development of natural agricultural solutions.
Mona is passionate about sustainability, circular economy and sustainable farming. She also loves traveling and discovering new cultures. Mona is the mom of a 6 y.o. boy and a 4 y.o girl who encouraged her to launch an alternative school project at a farm for their education.
